The horror-themed ITV2 game show returns for a fourth series later this year – but with a new host. Matt Edmondson is set to take over hosting duties for Release The Hounds after Reggie Yates had been hosting the program since its debut in October 2013. Edmondson is currently a host of his own show on BBC Radio 1 on the weekends called The Matt Edmondson Show. Last year, he co-hosted ITV2’s The Xtra Factor Live with Babushka host Rylan Clark-Neal.
Similar to the last series, the fourth series is titled Release The Hounds: Famous and Freaked. Each episode features a team of celebrities facing scary stunts for a chance to outrun the show’s infamous hell hounds and win thousands of pounds for charity. Five hourlong episodes and a two-hour Halloween special have been ordered by Asif Zubairy, ITV”s Commissioning Editor, Comedy and Entertainment. The show is executive produced by Mat Steiner and Adam Wood and Ben Wilson serves as the series producer.
As I had mentioned in some of my previous articles pertaining to the Release The Hounds, this is a terrifically terrifying, well-produced game show that is not only guaranteed to creep out contestants by keeping them in constant state of suspense and fear, but also make home viewers cringe and cower. Take a look at a few challenges from previous episodes in the clips below.
