The GSN original series is set to return next month with new episodes. The network kicks off the second season of Divided with a doubleheader at 10:00pm and 10:30pm ET. Mike Richards, executive producer of The Price Is Right and Let’s Make A Deal, returns to host the show. Not much has changed between seasons with the exception of the addition of theme shows. Upcoming theme episodes include Baby Boomers vs. Millennials, Military Night, teams completely comprised of teachers, lawyers and poker players; and a Second Chance special inviting contestants back who were voted off early in previous episodes.
In case you’ve never seen it before, the social experimental game show has a team of four strangers face a series of questions for a chance to potentially win thousands of dollars. The catch is they must vote unanimously on each answer while racing against a dwindling money clock. Correct answers adds money to the team’s bank and incorrect answers cuts the bank in half. During the game, the team must decide which contestant to eliminate from the game. At the end of the show, the bank is divided into three uneven shares (60%, 30%, 10%) and remaining three contestants must quickly come to a consensus and decide how to split the winnings between each teammate before the cash runs out.
Since its official debut in January, over 11 million viewers tuned in to watch Divided throughout its first season. The first season performed solidly on GSN in its 40-episode run earlier this year and averaged around 360,000 total viewers. It’s no surprise to see this show return. It has an intriguing premise to captivate audiences, yet a purposely divisive twist that some viewers might not find so appealing. I’ll further explain my complete thoughts on the show in my (very late) review on the program next month.
